While there are many differences between men and women, when it comes to aging and weight, it’s a level playing field. So why are cosmetic procedures assumed to be for women only?

At Vermont Med Spa, we’re changing the notion that cosmetic treatments are the sole domain of the fairer sex. Here in Los Angeles, more men are realizing the benefits of laser skin therapies that revitalize skin, as well as procedures that tackle fat, restoring them to a more youthful profile.

To get you started, here’s a look at four popular treatments that will help you keep pace with your female counterparts.

Skin deep

The forces of aging apply across the board and don’t play favorites when it comes to the sexes. As you age, your skin naturally loses collagen and elastin, which are responsible for the tone and elasticity in your skin. While this happens all over your body, it’s more evident in the skin on your face, neck, and hands. Lines and wrinkles, both deep and fine, begin to form as your skin is unable to bounce back as it once did.

This loss of firmness also means that the thin layer of fat under your skin begins to migrate and disappear, leaving sagging skin in its wake.

To combat these two forces, we offer laser skin treatments that rejuvenate tired skin with new healthy skin cells and renewed collagen production. Our laser therapies tackle your skin from the outside, without damaging the surface area, as the laser travels below and targets damaged skin cells. These laser therapies can also get rid of scars and blemishes while revitalizing your skin.

The treatments themselves are noninvasive and take only minutes. The results are gradual as your collagen fires up and your body flushes away the cells that we targeted and destroyed. Over the course of 6-12 weeks, your more vibrant, toned skin reveals itself gradually.

Chin up

As we discussed, the loss of elasticity in your skin not only allows the fat in your face to migrate, it also causes the fat in your neck to sag below your chin, creating what many refer to as a “turkey neck.” While the nickname for this condition may sound silly, its effects are no laughing matter for many.

To help both men and women tackle this condition, we offer Kybella®, an FDA-approved injection that targets the fat under your chin. The Kybella injection contains deoxycholic acid, which destroys the fat cells, allowing your body to flush out the debris naturally through your lymphatic system. Most of our patients require two to four treatments to get the results they want.

Reduced fat

When it comes to aesthetics, age isn’t very kind, and this includes the increasing inability to get rid of stubborn fat. If you’ve tried to tackle those love handles to no avail, there’s hope. We offer a laser liposuction treatment called SmartLipo®. During the procedure, we make a tiny incision through which we insert a small tube. Using laser energy to break up your fat cells, we then suction out the destroyed fat, leaving you with a reduced fat cell count.

The results of this procedure are gradual as your body adjusts and reshapes, so count on three to six months before you get the contour you’re hoping for.

Grow it out

Hair loss is one place where men drew the short stick. In fact, about two-thirds of American men will experience some degree of appreciable hair loss by the age of 35, and the numbers only get worse from there. To prompt new hair growth, we offer an innovative technique that taps your body’s own regenerative powers, namely your platelets.

The platelets in your blood contain a large number of proteins, or growth factors, that promote regeneration. In order to harness this power, we extract your platelets, form a concentrate, and inject them back into your scalp to promote hair growth. This procedure is a great alternative to more invasive hair restoration procedures.

All right, men, the ball’s in your court. If you want to see why the women in your life are looking so great, give us a call here at Vermont Med Spa, or use the online scheduling tool on this website to book an appointment.
